Richard Brekka, Chairman
Richard Brekka founded Dolphin Equity Partners in 1998. Richard has specialized in software as a service, mobile content, communication services, and internet investing for over 20 years.
He currently is on the boards of several Dolphin portfolio companies. Mr. Brekka is on the board of Overtone Inc. (a social media and enterprise feedback management solution), Mobile Armor (a leading provider of enterprise mobile data security), Silver Carrot (an online lead generation and content provider), Terago, Inc (TSX:TGO, Canada's leading wireless broadband service provider to businesses), Appia (a national voice over IP service provider to businesses), and Mr. Brekka is Chairman of the Board of Rate Integration (a customer loyalty management solutions provider to mobile carriers). Previously, Mr. Brekka was a board member of Enpocket, Inc. (a provider of carrier-grade mobile media, mobile marketing and mobile advertising services) until it was sold to Nokia, Inc. in 2007, and Chairman of the Board of Gomez, Inc.(the leader in web application experience management) until its sale to Compuware in 2009.
Prior to founding Dolphin, Richard was a Managing Director of CIBC's private equity investment unit and the President of CIBC's U.S. private equity investment subsidiaries. While there, he was a director on the board of 10 communications companies. Representative investments included Telesystems International Wireless, Orion Network Systems, Transit Communications and OneComm Communications. Prior to CIBC, Richard was with Chase Capital and led the investments in Nextel and DisCom Communications.
Richard holds a BS Finance from the University of Southern California and a MBA from the University of Chicago.
Thomas Thekkethala – RateIntegration, CEO & President Mr. Thekkethala has over twenty years of experience in financing and leading enterprise software companies. He is a founding investor and board member at RateIntegration where he oversees the company’s strategy and global operations. Prior to RateIntegration, he co-founded SRG and CCSS, where he developed the software product vision and market strategy and led the companies to their successfully acquisitions. During his career, he has led teams that have developed and deployed enterprise software for leading telecom carriers and service providers around the world. Mr. Thekkethala was also a founding board member at Ibrix (acquired by HP) and Fidelia (acquired by Network General / NetScout).
Mr. Thekkethala holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and a Masters in Information Management from Washington University, St. Louis.
David Dey Mr. Dey brings over 30 years of industry experience to RateIntegration. Having worked at the most senior levels in companies such as British Telecom, Energis, IBM and Plessey; most recently Mr. Dey has been the Executive Chairman of a number of successful early stage ventures such as Alpha Telecom and Neos Networks.
Dennis O’Connell
Dennis O'Connell joined Dolphin Equity Partners in April 2001. He brings to Dolphin 25 plus years of successful operating experience in all segments of the communications industry. Dennis presently serves on the Board of Directors of five of Dolphin's investments: AVST, Touch Commerce, Overtone Terago and Rate Integration. Prior to joining Dolphin, Dennis served as the North Region President of XO Communications, a leading integrated communications provider, where he led market operations in the Northeast and Midwest. He successfully built it into a $200 million business. He was also the Northeast Region President for AT&T Wireless. He successfully led the AT&T Wireless operations in New York and Pittsburgh, and oversaw the successful launch of the Washington/Baltimore, Philadelphia and Boston markets, which had annual revenues in excess of $1 billion and over 1.5 million customers. Dennis was a member of the original McCaw Cellular Communications management team. He was with McCaw Cellular for 10 years, from the initial launch of McCaw's first market in 1985 through its sale to AT&T in 1995. While at McCaw, Dennis had a variety of increasing senior operating responsibilities across the U.S.
Mr O'Connell holds a BS in Marketing from the University of Maryland.
Shaji John Mr John is the co-founder and the Managing Partner of JT Venture Partners, LLC. Mr. John focuses in the areas of storage infrastructure and software. Prior to co-founding JT Venture Partners, Mr. John worked at MFS Investment Management, a Boston based mutual fund company, where he was a technology analyst covering software and Internet infrastructure companies. During his investment career Mr. John was named "Best of the Buy Side" by Institutional Investor magazine and voted top 15 analysts/fund managers in the United States by Reuters/Tempest survey of the CFOs and Investor Relations Managers of the S&P 500 companies. Prior to entering the investment management industry in 1994, Mr.John worked for General Electric Consulting Services as a software engineer designing middle-ware and industrial automation systems. He has published and presented papers related to discrete event system simulation and expert systems.
Mr. John holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering, MS in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, and an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.
